Apple App Store Issues
Apple processes all iOS payments natively through the App Store. Because Nigeria is a highly regulated banking environment, most payment failures are tied to your bank's international transaction restrictions rather than an issue with ChowCheck itself.
Naira Card Declined by Apple
If your card is declined when attempting to subscribe via the App Store, it is almost certainly because your local Naira debit card is restricted from making international web purchases. Nigerian banks limit Naira cards to local currency transactions only.
- Solution 1 (Virtual Cards): Generate a virtual USD or GBP card using fintech apps like ALAT by Wema, Chipper Cash, PayDay, or Grey. These cards bypass local restrictions and work flawlessly with Apple.
- Solution 2 (Domiciliary Account): Link a physical USD domiciliary debit card from your bank to your Apple ID.
- Solution 3 (Bank Authorization): Contact your bank's customer support to explicitly authorize international web transactions on your card, though this rarely works for standard Naira cards nowadays.

Unpaid Balance on Apple ID
Apple has a strict policy: you cannot make new purchases, update apps, or even download free apps if you have an unpaid balance from a previous App Store subscription or purchase that failed to bill.
- Go to Settings > [Your Name] > Payment & Shipping.
- If a payment method failed, it will appear in red text indicating "Failed" or "Action Required".
- Add a new, valid payment method (like a virtual dollar card) to clear the balance.
- Once the balance is cleared, you can subscribe to ChowCheck Pro.

In-App Purchases Restricted
Sometimes, Apple's Screen Time settings actively block all In-App Purchases on your device. This is common if you recently restored your iPhone from a backup or if it is a family-managed device.
- Go to Settings > Screen Time.
- Tap Content & Privacy Restrictions.
- Tap iTunes & App Store Purchases.
- Set In-app Purchases to "Allow".
