These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the ChowCheck mobile application ("App", "Service") operated by David ("Developer", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms in full.

If you do not agree, do not use ChowCheck.

1. Who Can Use ChowCheck

ChowCheck is designed for Nigerian university students aged 16 and above. By using the App, you confirm that:

• You are at least 16 years old
• You are a current or prospective university student in Nigeria
• You are using the App for personal, non-commercial purposes
• The information you provide during onboarding is accurate

We reserve the right to suspend accounts that violate these conditions.

2. Your Account

2.1 Registration

You may create an account using:

• Email and password (via Supabase Auth)
• Google Sign-In (via Google OAuth)
• Sign in with Apple (via Apple OAuth)

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

2.2 One Account Per Person

Each person may maintain one ChowCheck account. Creating multiple accounts to abuse the free trial or circumvent subscription limits is prohibited and may result in permanent termination of all accounts.

2.3 Account Security

If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at chowchecksupport@gmail.com.

3. The Service — What ChowCheck Provides

ChowCheck provides:

• A personal food budget engine that calculates your daily food allowance based on your campus living situation
• Access to a live, crowdsourced campus food and vendor database, maintained by real students at Nigerian universities
• A daily task and meal checklist with offline-first performance
• Personalised meal recommendations based on your dietary profile, provisions, and budget
• Morning vibe check — daily meal suggestions sent via push notification at 7:30 AM

Important: The menu prices, vendor availability, and meal data in ChowCheck are crowdsourced by students. While we validate data through a multi-confirmation process before publishing globally, we cannot guarantee 100% accuracy at all times. Always confirm prices directly with vendors before purchasing.

4. Subscription & Payment

4.1 Free Trial

ChowCheck offers a 7-day free trial upon account creation. No payment is required to start your trial. You get full access to all features during the trial period.

4.2 Subscription Plan

After the trial period, continued access to ChowCheck requires a paid subscription:

The subscription grants you continued access to ChowCheck's live campus food database and budget engine.

4.3 How Payment Works

ChowCheck does not process payments inside the app using Apple In-App Purchases or Google Play Billing.

Payment is made through Paystack, a Nigerian payment processor, via a secure in-app browser window. You will be directed to complete your payment on Paystack's checkout page. ChowCheck never sees or stores your card or bank details.

By subscribing, you agree to Paystack's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

4.4 Renewal

Subscriptions are not automatically renewed. You will receive a notification when your subscription is approaching expiry. You must manually renew to maintain access.

4.5 Refund Policy

Due to the nature of digital services and the low price point, all subscription payments are non-refundable once processed. If you experience a billing issue (e.g. charged but not unlocked), contact us at chowchecksupport@gmail.com within 7 days and we will resolve it manually.

4.6 Trial Expiry

When your free trial expires, the app will transition to a locked state. Your data is preserved. You can reactivate access at any time by subscribing.

4.7 Managing Your Subscription

You can view your subscription status and payment history in the app under:
Profile → App & Account → Manage Subscription

5. Crowdsourced Content

5.1 User Contributions

When you flag a menu item as "Sold Out" or submit a price report, you are contributing to ChowCheck's shared campus food database. By submitting a report, you confirm that:

• The information is accurate to the best of your knowledge
• You are reporting something you directly observed on campus
• You are not deliberately submitting false or misleading data

5.2 Content Validation

Price updates are applied globally only after a minimum of 10–20 independent user confirmations. The Developer reserves the right to reject, delay, or override any submitted report.

5.3 No Compensation

Contributing price reports or flagging items does not entitle you to any payment, credit, or subscription benefit.

5.4 Content Standards

You must not submit:

• Deliberately false prices designed to mislead other students
• Offensive or abusive text in any input field
• Content that violates any applicable Nigerian law

Violations may result in account suspension.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the App's source code
• Scrape, copy, or redistribute ChowCheck's campus food database
• Automate interactions with the App (bots, scripts)
• Attempt to circumvent the subscription or trial system
• Use the App in any way that disrupts other users or our infrastructure
• Impersonate another person or entity on the platform

7. Offline Mode & Data Sync

ChowCheck is built offline-first. Your data is stored locally on your device and synced to our secure cloud database when internet is available.

• If you uninstall the app, your local data will be lost. Your cloud-synced data will be restored when you log back in.
• Sync conflicts are resolved using a last-write-wins rule based on timestamps.
• We are not liable for data loss caused by device failure, uninstallation without prior sync, or force-clearing the app's local storage.

8. Account Termination

8.1 By You

You may delete your account at any time from:

• In-app: Profile → App & Account → Delete Account
• Web: chowcheck.app/delete-account

Deletion is permanent and irreversible. See our Privacy Policy for details on what is deleted.

8.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account without notice if you:

• Violate these Terms
• Engage in fraudulent activity (e.g. multi-account trial abuse)
• Submit deliberately false data that harms other users

If we terminate your account for reasons other than a Terms violation, we will provide a pro-rata refund for any remaining subscription time.

9. Intellectual Property

All content in ChowCheck — including the app design, recommendation engine, code, branding, and curated vendor database — is owned by the Developer and protected under Nigerian and international copyright law.

Your personal data (tasks, preferences, budget settings) belongs to you. See the Privacy Policy for how we handle it.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

ChowCheck is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

We do not warrant that:

• Menu prices shown are always current or accurate
• The App will be uninterrupted or error-free
• Meal recommendations will meet your specific dietary or health needs

ChowCheck is a budgeting and discovery tool, not a dietary or medical service. Always consult a qualified professional for medical dietary advice.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Nigerian law, the Developer shall not be liable for:

• Any loss of money resulting from acting on inaccurate price data in the App
• Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of ChowCheck
• Loss of data due to device failure or uninstallation

Our total liability to you for any claim arising out of your use of ChowCheck shall not exceed the amount you paid for your current subscription period (₦1,000).

12. Governing Law & Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of ChowCheck shall first be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If that fails, disputes shall be submitted to the courts of competent jurisdiction in Nigeria.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do:

• The "Last updated" date at the top will change
• Material changes will be communicated via push notification or in-app notice
• Continued use of the App after the effective date constitutes acceptance
